Federico Lenzerini was born in Poggibonsi (Italy) on October 7, 1968. He is Juris Doctor magna cum laude, University of Siena (Italy), 1998, and Ph. D., International Law, University of Bari (Italy), 2003. He is Professor of Public International Law, and European Union Law at the University of Siena (Italy). He has been Consultant to UNESCO and Legal Advisor of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at international negotiations concerning the protection of cultural heritage. He was a member of the Committee on Biotechnology of the International Law Association (ILA) and Rapporteur of the ILA Committee on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and is currently a Member of the ILA Committee on Cultural Heritage Law. He has been visiting Professor in a number of foreign universities, including the Tulane University of New Orleans and at the St. Thomas University Law School, Miami (FL), USA. He also taught at the Academy of European Law, European University Institute, Session on Human Rights Law, June-July 2011.
