American University (AU) is the largest school of international relations in the United States. Located in Washington DC, the School of International Service (SIS) has select programs at the BA, MA and Doctoral level that focus on security and foreign policy, peace and conflict resolution, ethics and human rights, international development as well as area studies. American University is a member of APSIA, the association of professional schools in international affairs, is a founding member of the DC based EU Center of Excellence Consortium, and is the only university with an ASEAN centre focusing on regional integration in Asia. With over eighty faculties, in law, politics and international relations, sociology, geography and anthropology, SIS has a number of faculties with expertise in European integration, European monetary and financial issues, and transatlantic security and economic relations. Faculty have also published award-winning books in both environmental politics and human rights. Across different fields, faculty provide frequent commentary in the media, advise governments, testify before Congress, and are affiliated with a variety of think tanks in DC.
